This past Friday, Ryan and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! Yeah, go us!!! Knowing full well the disaster it could bring, Ryan and I decided to celebrate by taking Alex out on our first sit-down restaurant experience as a family of three. We went out for pizza!
As expected, the host merely looked at Alex and he immediately started crying. We sat in our booth for awhile trying to decide whether or not we could stay. Luckily, our host was sympathetic - his son also had stranger anxiety at Alex's age! He brought him some crayons and a coloring page.
After Alex saw the crayons, he stopped crying and perked right up. We risked making an order. Shortly thereafter, Alex let me take his coat off as he motioned toward the booster seat sitting right next to me. Following his lead, I set him in there and there he sat! Wow! He did just fine for the rest of the meal. In fact, we even had some fun and saw some smiles.

SUCCESS!!!
Speaking of success, Alex had his first "official" haircut today! I sooo thought it was going to be a disaster. Five minutes before the lucky stylist showed up at our house I was literally asking Ryan if we were going to traumatize him and ruin his life over a dumb haircut. So what if his hair is in his eyes! Should we cancel?!
To our IMMENSE surprise, Alex did GREAT! He didn't cry until the very end, when the haircut was practically over, and even then it was short-lived. I will say that we may have "bribed" him a bit with a few treats during the haircut. I mean, he can't cry AND eat special cookies from his foster mom at the same time!
