I know reading updates about Alex is way more interesting and exciting, but since we have nothing to report, I thought I'd post a lil' something about myself.
January is busy, busy, busy. I have purposely jam-packed my schedule in an attempt to make time move more quickly. In reality, time obviously moves at a fixed rate, but in my world, I prefer it to fly (at least for the time being).
For those of you who don't know, I am currently in grad school seeking an initial teaching licensure and masters degree in English as a Second Language (ESL). This January, I have chosen to take two (TWO!) J-term classes. That is, TWO classes in THREE weeks. Whew! I've got my work cut out for me, but so far my plan is working. The other day I mentioned how I couldn't believe it was January 4th already, when, in fact, it was January 7th. See what I mean? My plan is working! Muah-ha-ha!
Of course, I am also still working part-time, though I've dropped down from three days a week to two. I tutor reading and math as well as teach after-school enrichment classes. I love it, and am so grateful for the experiences I am acquiring, the relationships I am building, and, of course, the way it also helps time to fly!
What else... Ryan and I bought season passes to a local ski hill where we like to snowboard. So any time that isn't filled with working or homework can be filled with a snowboarding trip. As I still consider myself somewhere between a "novice" and "intermediate" snowboarder, my mind has no room for dwelling on the long wait for Alex as I make my way down the hills! By the end of the season, I am really hoping I can drop the feeling of being a "novice" (though Ryan would argue that I am not a novice snowboarder, I argue that I sometimes still FEEL like a novice). Snowboarding is hard.

Novice you say????
ReplyDeleteGood thing I have a helmet! ;-D
ReplyDeleteNah, I like to read about adoptive moms' actual lives too, and not just about the babes. I even had a "life" once too :) You're smart to keep busy while you wait. Too much time to think can be a bad, bad thing. And you might as well get it done now, because you're going to have a whole lot less time to do anything soon...
ReplyDeleteit's fun hearing about YOU, too, jen! :) wow! i'm impressed that you're taking 2 j-term classes! i'm off from work until mid-march...i LOVE being home with choi boy, but somewhere in the back of my mind, i miss my kiddos at school, too ;)
ReplyDeleteCute pic!! Hang in there with all of your grad school work, it's a heavy load but I know you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
